More details
As you approach Pons, it is majestic, the keep proudly presenting its attractions to visitors on the highest point of the town.
Take advantage of your stopover to climb it, the tourist office is located there and will give you the best ways to explore the town.
At the foot of the keep, the magnificent French garden is the setting for the Sires de Pons' dwellings. Surrounded by ramparts, a myriad of alleys and staircases invite the visitor to lose himself in the heart of the town.
Further down, the St Vivien district, its Romanesque church and the pilgrims' hospital show the importance of Pons as a stopover on the Way of St Jacques de Compostelle, on the route from Tours to Santiago de Compostella.
The river Seugne flows gently through the village and in summer offers a refreshing walk under the hundred-year-old trees. The leisure centre at Pons is one of the most popular stops on the route to Royan for leisure and meals. An extended stay will also be fun thanks to the Chateau des énigmes...
