A very rolling route with a large part in the forest, in the Trèfle valley and on the vineyard slopes. Several sectors follow ancient Roman roads, notably in the Grand Vau plain (around the airfield) and in Neulles.

Interest of the circuit:
The church of Marignac, presents lapidary signs of the 12th century and interesting decorations. The facade of this church is composed of a deep semicircular portal, with four arches, surmounted by a diamond-shaped cordon. Two engaged columns support a first cornice whose smooth capitals, eaten away by saltpetre, seem to have been decorated with sculptures in the past. A 15th century bell tower stands on the southern crosspiece. Two trefoil windows, which replace old Romanesque openings, light up a small apse. Built on the top of a small hill, this church, built on an elevation and surrounded by an old cemetery, dominates the landscape (5.S.M.H.2000).
The windmill of Chilleau is a stone tower, built in 1847 on the foundations of a previous mill (demolished around 1820). The mill tower roof and wings were restored in 2013. A reading table has been installed at its foot. The ground floor houses a collection of tools and caricatures from Saintonge. Not far from there, a bread oven has also been restored.
The Gibeau castle, flanked by towers, dates from the end of the 15th century. The main building has crenellations. In the alleyway, you can see a war memorial. Built in the second half of the 20th century, it marks the site of the martyrdom of seven young men of 20 years of age, involved in the Resistance, who were shot by the Nazis.
The church of Neulles, dating from the 11th and 12th centuries and remodelled in the 15th century, is dedicated to Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption. The sober façade is a reference to a typological group to which the church of Cierzac belongs. The interior is adorned with 18th century painted decorations. The presence of a stoup combining circular and square shapes is noteworthy, symbolising the marriage of heaven and earth. On each side of the basin, the floral decoration includes a daisy with four or eight petals, symbol of childhood and paradise.
At Chez Tonneau, the straight path through the undergrowth is the route of the ancient Roman road between Saintes (Mediolanum Santonum) and Périgueux (Vesuna). If you go straight on rather than turning left (you will have to retrace your steps to take the route again), a hundred metres further on you will discover a section that has been uncovered with a reading and interpretation table on the Roman roads.
You can also leave from the Place de la Mairie in Marignac.
