The pond of Allas, dug by the monks in the 17th century, is one of the great lakes of Charente-Maritime. A true reservoir of biodiversity, forbidden to fishing, it is home to fragile and endangered species and feeds the departmental fish farm. Owned by the Departmental Federation for Fishing and the Protection of Aquatic Environments (FDPPA), it is subject to special management: every winter, the pond is gradually drained and its fish are taken to supply rivers and streams. A miraculous catch of which a selected number of beautiful specimens will return to the pond for reproduction.
