En détail
80 years ago, Pierre Ruibet and Claude Gatineau blew up one of the German army's largest ammunition depots in the Heurtebise quarries. That was on 30 June 1944. By destroying this warehouse, which fed the defences of the Atlantic Wall, these two young Resistance fighters contributed to the success of the Battle of Normandy and saved the town from being bombed by the Allied air force. We'll tell you their story at the site of their heroic deed: the Heurtebise quarries, now a spa. The thermal treatment unit will also be presented to you during the visit.
