More details
It was the will of the Charente-Maritime General Council, under the impetus of President Claude Belot, President of the Community of Communes of Haute-Saintonge, that gave birth to this project: to create the first national site for the education of all in "good citizenship" and to "live" motorised leisure activities with an ecological approach.
The Circuit de Haute-Saintonge, located at la-Genétouze near Jonzac, at the crossroads of four departments (Charente-Maritime, Charente, Dordogne and Gironde), has also benefited from the dynamism of Dominique Bussereau, Secretary of State for Transport to the Minister of Ecology, Energy, Sustainable Development and Town and Country Planning and the new President of the General Council of Charente-Maritime, to pursue its development.
A new challenge for the Beltoise teams:
25 years ago Jean-Pierre Beltoise devised an innovative and avant-garde teaching method called "Driving Fair", in order to help reduce road risks. Today, he and his team accompany the vital debate on energy saving and respect for the environment with training courses based on Eco-driving. It is therefore natural that Jean-Pierre Beltoise wanted to join this ambitious project which aims to combine leisure sport, responsible driving and respect for the environment.
A circuit at the forefront of environmental issues:
The Haute-Saintonge circuit was designed from the outset to become an example in terms of respect for the environment, both in the materials used and in the desire to be a laboratory for new clean automobile technologies.
For example
- The tracks have been designed with low temperature asphalt to reduce emissions.
- The ground markings are made with water-based paint for the tracks, and for the car park they are made from oyster shells.
- Each traffic light will be powered by its own photovoltaic panel.
- Several areas on the site, notably in front of the buildings, are made of "Vegecol" asphalt (a bitumen-free asphalt from COLAS).
- The karting circuit is one of the first outdoor tracks to use electric karts.
- Staff and guests will use electric vehicles to get around the site.
- 13 hectares are earmarked for the construction of a field of photovoltaic panels.
- A business park is currently under construction and will be dedicated to the technologies of the future with the aim of having a zero-emission car fleet.
- The buildings, farmhouses from the Charente, have been refurbished using environmentally friendly materials, with hemp insulation and wood heating.
A circuit for motor sport enthusiasts:
At 2,200m long and 11 to 18 metres wide, the speedway is one of the fastest in France. The track is divided into four zones, which are closely monitored by 14 cameras and a system of four flashing yellow lights to warn of any danger; for motorbikes, marshals are provided in addition to the cameras and lights. To ensure optimum safety, the track has many wide clearances and the gravel bins have been placed as far away from the track as possible. The track is in the process of being homologated by the CNECV, the FFSA and the FFM as a "Circuit de Vitesse".
The Circuit de Haute-Saintonge Jean-Pierre Beltoise consists of a 2,200m long and 11m wide speed track and a 1,055m long and 8m wide kart track suitable for many activities:
- Safety driving courses: young people, individuals and companies.
- Eco-driving course.
- Advanced driving courses and introductory driving courses.
- Gatherings of modern or historic vehicles.
- Driving day for individuals with their vehicle (car or motorbike).
- Seminars, training courses or company conventions.
- Events.
- Technical and technological tests.
- Demonstration and presentation of products for manufacturers, distributors and equipment suppliers.
- Go-kart challenges.
An educational circuit:
The kart track is designed for leisure karting, hosting regional or national competitions, but also for training in safe driving and eco-driving.
For the "Driving Fair" courses:
- Simulation of a roundabout.
- Partially or fully waterable track.
- Different surfaces (classic, bad surface like some roads and flat resin area).
- Straight line of 400m for braking and safety distance control.
- Flat resin area for simulating driving on snow or ice.
The karting track is equipped with Sodikart SR5, this model will be particularly appreciated because, in addition to an excellent behaviour on the track, it allows to adjust its position thanks to the 2D adjustable pedals and thus benefit from an excellent driving position. Possibility of carrying out karting animations at the beginning of the evening
This circuit is an example in terms of safety and functionality.
