Located in the heart of nature, it was developed by the Communauté de Communes de la Haute-Saintonge in 2015. It has been largely shaped by the hand of man through the exploitation of two local resources: the forest and clay.
This is the heart of the Double Saintongeaise forest, which covers the canton of Les Trois Monts (Montendre, Montlieu-la-Garde and Montguyon). Mainly planted with maritime pines, it covers 30,000 hectares.
We're also in the Charentes silver basin, bordered to the north by Barbezieux (16), to the south by Coutras (33), to the west by Montendre and to the east by Chalais (16). An integral part of the vast Aquitaine clay basin, it is characterised by the presence of kaolin clay of great mineralogical purity, very fine and rich in alumina, a rare, high-quality product with many industrial outlets.
You can visit the site all year round from the top of the viewpoint and discover all the secrets of the site using the landscape interpretation table.
Free admission every day from 10am to 12.30pm and from 1.30pm to 6pm in July and August.
Guided tour every Thursday in July and August.
To complete your visit, you can discover the Maison du Kaolin in Montguyon (10 place de la Mairie).
