En détail
The water mill produces some of the best 1st cold-pressed walnut oil in the region. A 30-minute scenography reminds visitors that Jonzac was born from the river.
In the room with the paddle wheel, mechanisms and gears, the miller explains the driving force of water, how the wheel works, how walnut oil is made and its virtues, and the life of the river.
Anyone can bring their own walnuts (without the shells!) to be crushed to make their own oil!
There's also an archaeological exhibition entitled "10 years of excavations at the Gallo-Roman villa in Jonzac".
