Photographs of Sardinia Ferdinando Longhi was born in Milan on 13 January 1944. He developed a passion for photography as a child and bought his first camera, a Comet II Bencini, in 1958.

In 1968, he left for Sardinia and discovered a new world that was unknown to him. Ferdinando spent many years there between 1968 and 1978, taking thousands of black and white photographs, jealously guarding the negatives in his archives. In 2013, he decided to give these photographs a new lease of life and organised his first exhibition, which would be followed by many others, including the one on show at the Carmelite Cultural Centre. Ferdinando's photographs are perfect, imbued with humanistic and archaic suggestions, taken with the eye and detachment of a professional and the heart and sensitivity of a man fascinated by and enamoured of a harsh and somewhat mysterious world, discovered, stripped bare and made immortal by his lens.
